Network Executive Group: The Network executive group is comprised of Network Director Professor Sabine Flitsch, Network Deputy Director Professor Rob Field, the Network Manager Dr Claire Doherty, the IBCarb Executive Committee and the IBCarb Steering Committee

1. Network Membership

a. Membership of the Network is at all times subject to the approval of the Network Executive Group.

b. Potential Network members should apply for membership by completing the Membership Form contained within the Website.

c. Subject to the approval of the Network Executive Group, membership will be granted and the Network Member agrees to abide by these conditions.

d. Network Members who do not abide by the conditions of membership may have their membership of the Network revoked or suspended at the discretion of the Network Executive Group.

e. Network Members who wish to terminate their membership should contact the Network Manager.

f. Membership of the Network does not imply endorsement of the Network Member or any products, services or research conducted by the Network Member.

g. Network Members are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of their account, and for all activities that occur on or through their Account, and you agree to immediately notify IBCarb of any security breach of your Account. IBCarb shall not be responsible for any losses arising out of the unauthorized use of your Account.

h. Network Members agree to their details being available to other Network Members via a searchable members directory.

i. Information contained in Network Members directory is available to registered Network Members only and should not be passed to anyone else.

j. You may not use the details of other Network Members contained in the directory to send unsolicited emails for the purposes of direct marketing.

k. You have the right to terminate your Network Member status at any time by contacting the Network Manager.

2. Data Management

a. All data provided by the Network Members will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1988.

b. Network Members agree that the Network Executive Group may share data provided by the Network Members with other Network Members, the BBSRC or other like organisations at the Network Executive Group’s discretion for the purpose of promoting and enabling the work of the Network.

c. Network Members acknowledge that the BBSRC encourage data sharing, and this is a primary purpose of the Network.

d. Network Members agree that data held by the Network may be transmitted outside the European Union.

e. Network Members have the right to inspect data held by the Network by that Network Member and to ensure that this data is correct. Any errors in the data will be corrected by the Network Executive Group.

f. BBSRC may use the information provided on the BBSRC NIBB Extranet for research related activities, including but not limited to, statistical analysis in relation to evaluation of the BBSRC NIBB, study of trends and policy and strategy studies. Retained statistical data will be anonymised.

3. Usage of the Website

a. Usage of the Website is allowed by all Network Members. The Network Executive Group reserve the right to restrict access to the Website at any time without prior notice.

b. Network Members may upload information to the Website in accordance with the procedures set out therein.

c. Network Members are responsible for the contents of postings and the Network and the Network Executive Group:

  • i. make no representations as to the accuracy or quality of the material.
  • ii. Accept no responsibility for material that infringes or violates the rights of any other party, violates any laws, or is otherwise obscene, objectionable, or in poor taste

d. Network Members must not to transmit any computer viruses, worms, trojan horses or other malware.

e. Network Members warrant that they are entitled to upload material and that they have the necessary permissions from the owner of any relevant intellectual property.

f. Any material displayed on the Website is provided without any guarantees, conditions or warranties as to its accuracy. Your use of the Website and its contents is at your own risk.

4. Network events and promotional activities

a. Network events are open to all Network Members who have the right to register and attend. Places may be limited depending on capacity and will be issued on a first come first serve basis.
b. Network events will be free to attend and all two day events will include free accommodation for the evening of Day 1. Attendees will be responsible for any travel and subsistence costs incurred up to the point of their arrival at the event and venue for their return journey at the end of the event.
c. The University will not be liable for costs incurred due to circumstances outside of our control, such as transport delays or late changes in availability.
d. The Network is not liable for losses resulting from your decision to engage in Network activities.
e. Travel bursaries are available for PhDs and PDRAs to attend Network events. Applications should be made to the Network Manager. Travel expenses will be reimbursed on submission of a travel claim and travel receipts after attendance at the event.

5. Updates to terms and conditions

The University may revise these terms and conditions of membership at any time. We will post a notification of any changes we make on the Website and notify you by email. You will have the option to terminate your membership if you do not agree with future changes to terms and conditions.

6. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms and conditions are governed by, and to be construed in accordance with, English
Law. The English Courts will have exclusive jurisdiction to deal with any dispute which has arisen
or may arise out of, or in connection with, these terms and conditions.
